Bon Appetit Ottawa provides a recipe for both hunger and poverty relief in the National Capital Region. Driven by the hospitality industry to support the operational needs of local charities BAO has a particular focus on children and the elderly.

Funding Request Process
In order to be considered for funding, your charity is required to meet the tenets detailed in the Bon Appetit Ottawa mission statement (above).
Your letter of application, providing the requested information below, needs to be received no later than January 18th, 2013.
The BAO Allocations Committee will review all received requests at its February meeting. All applicants will be notified of the status of their request by the end of February.
Charities must apply yearly to be considered for funding.
Your letter of application requires the following information:
- Name of charity
- Registered charity status
- Registered charity status number
- Year charity was established
(Please note that preference is given to those in operation for over two years.) - Name and all relevant contact details for person making the application
- Brief description of charity, outlining:
- objectives
- any other pertinent information
- Amount of funding requested
(As a guideline, Bon Appetit Ottawa annually allocates amounts between $1,000 and $10,000 per charity,
with an average of $2,500.) - Description of the specific program your request would fund,
including the number of people it will aid - Details of how your request fits in with the Bon Appetit Ottawa mandate
(Please be as specific as possible.) - Information on your fundraising program
(Do you have a fundraising person who receives a salary or stipend?) - Summary of the funding sources upon which your charity currently relies
- Outline of your organizational / management structure
- Bon Appetit Ottawa relies on volunteers at our annual event to ensure the maximum amount of money raised is available for distribution amongst the beneficiaries. The Board welcomes all expressions of help in the execution of this fundraiser. Please provide details if your organization could help with any of the following:
- Access to an experienced volunteer base that would be willing to help
on the day of the event - A member of your staff able to manage a group of volunteers
- A database Bon Appetit Ottawa could access to send out marketing
materials about the event
- Access to an experienced volunteer base that would be willing to help

Bon Appetit Ottawa Beneficiary Levels
There are four levels of financial support. All allocations are dependent on the successful generation of Bon Appetit revenues in the stated year. Funds will be granted for a period of one to three years (as specified in the levels below) and may be renewed upon review. Special consideration will be given to charities that do not have a paid fundraising person or an established fund raising program.
The four levels are:

Primary
Primary Beneficiaries are those organizations that play an active role in the promotion, organization and revenue generation of Bon Appetit.The maximum number of primary beneficiaries will be limited to four (4) organizations. Recipients in this category will generally receive annual allocations of $ 5,000 or more.

Secondary
Secondary Beneficiaries will be required to take an active part in the organization of the event.The maximum number of secondary beneficiaries will be limited to four (4) organizations. Recipients in this category will generally receive annual allocations of $ 3,000 or more.

Ongoing Support
Recipients at this level will receive a three-year allocation commitment from Bon Appetit.The maximum number of beneficiaries in this level will be limited to twelve (12) organizations. Recipients in this category will generally receive up to $ 2,500 per annum.
- Special Initiatives
This level will be established primarily for one-time contributions. Allocation criteria will be reviewed and modified each year. Recipients in this category will generally receive up to $ 2,000.
